New Way Psychology is a leading psychology business located in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, dedicated to empowering individuals and communities through specialised programs and therapeutic services. Our mission is to provide comprehensive and enriching professional support, resources, and training for early childhood educators, mental health professionals, as well as individuals and teams who work with children and families.
At New Way Psychology, we offer a range of services, including the highly acclaimed Circle of Security® Program for educators and childcare workers, consultation and training as well as clinical supervision. Our approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and a deep understanding of human development, attachment theory, and effective intervention strategies.

Nathan Dearing
Nathan Dearing is the Director of New Way Psychology. With a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Newcastle, Australia, Nathan completed a Master of Narrative Therapy and Community Work at the University of Melbourne. Since graduating, he has practiced psychology for over ten years, working with children, teenagers, and their families in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Hunter Valley regions.
Nathan spent seven years working in the non-government sector, facilitating therapeutic group and individual programs for young people. He also supported caregivers through specialised parenting programs. He took these skills and knowledge into the private sector, where he now works with young people and their families presenting with a diverse range of psychological difficulties and challenges.
Nathan’s extensive experience and training have continually fuelled his passion for working to support young people and their families and furthermore, early childhood educators, mental health clinicians and organisations, to help young adults.
He is deeply passionate about the Circle of Security® model and believes that this world-renowned program is an invaluable resource to educators, caregivers, and families as they seek to support children in their care and provide healthy environments.
